How We Refurbish A Mattress
Every mattress that comes back during its trial goes through the same process:
- Test and inspect, inside and out. The mattress is assessed thoroughly before anything else happens.
- Replace with brand new, authentic Simba parts. Any component that isn't up to standard is swapped for a genuine replacement.
- Deep clean and sanitise to hospital standards. The mattress is cleaned inside and out before it goes back on sale.
Only mattresses that pass all three stages are sold as refurbished. Anything that doesn't pass goes into our recycling process.
The work is carried out through our certified refurbishment programme, so the standards, the replacement parts and the inspection criteria are all ours. That's the main practical difference between a manufacturer refurbishment and a general second-hand purchase, where the history of the item is usually unknown.
The Technology Is Unchanged

The Trial And Guarantee
This is where refurbished differs from new:
- Refurbished mattresses come with a 30 night trial, compared with 200 nights on a new mattress.
- They're covered by our 1-year Certified Mattress Refurbishment Guarantee, compared with the 10-year guarantee on a new mattress.
- If a refurbished mattress fails within that year due to a manufacturing defect, we collect it free of charge and swap it for another refurbished one.
The guarantee runs from the delivery date and applies to the original purchaser. To meet its conditions, rotate the mattress once a month for the first three months, then every three months after that. Rotating means turning it head to foot, and Simba mattresses aren't designed to be flipped over.
Thirty nights is still enough time to know whether a mattress suits you, and most people form a settled view within the first few weeks.
