WHY NOT TRY OUR AWARD-WINNING SLEEP TECH?

How Does Simba's 3-in-1 Duvet Actually Work? Which Combination Should You Use?

Our Hybrid™ 3-in-1 Duvet is a set of two separate duvets that snap together. One is a light 3.5 tog and the other is a medium 7 tog. Used one at a time they give you two different warmth levels, and joined together they make a 10.5 tog duvet perfect for the cooler months. That's three options from one purchase, which is where the name comes from. Below, we'll explain how it's put together and which combination to reach for as the year goes on.

What's In The Bag

When your duvet arrives, you'll find two duvets in the same size, packed in a reusable storage bag:

  • The 3.5 tog duvet, which is the lighter of the two and is made for summer
  • The 7 tog duvet, which is thicker and is made for spring and autumn

Both are finished in the same way, with a breathable cotton and Modal cover and square stitching that keeps the filling evenly spread. Each one has a label at the foot end, so you always know which way round it goes, along with a QR code that takes you to care and recycling advice.

How The Two Duvets Join Together

The duvets are designed to snap together. You lay one on top of the other and fasten them, and they then behave as a single 10.5 tog duvet inside your duvet cover. When the weather warms up, you unfasten them and put one away in the storage bag.

Tog ratings add together, which is why 3.5 and 7 give you 10.5. It's a simple system, and it means you're always using a duvet that was designed for the season you're in.

What's Inside Each Duvet

The filling in both duvets is Simba Renew™. It's made from recycled PET bottle fibres that are combed into light, airy clusters, and the result feels very close to down. We blend those fibres with 20% Modal, a plant-derived material, to encourage fresher airflow and help wick away moisture.

On one side of each duvet you'll also find our Stratos® technology. It's cool to the touch, it prevents the build-up of heat, and in independent testing by HeiQ, Stratos®-treated fabric was up to 3°C cooler than untreated fabric. The other side blends cotton with silky Modal. So even at the full 10.5 tog, the duvet is designed to keep you warm without feeling clammy.

Which Combination Should You Use?

Here's a simple guide to get you started. Everyone's bedroom is different, so treat these as a starting point and adjust to what feels right for you.

  • Summer: the 3.5 tog on its own. On warm nights you'll want just enough weight to feel covered. The 3.5 tog gives you that, with Stratos® on one side for a cool touch.
  • Spring and autumn: the 7 tog on its own. This is the one you'll probably use for the biggest part of the year. It has enough warmth for cooler evenings and stays breathable when the temperature climbs again.
  • Winter: both together for 10.5 tog. When the heating goes on and the nights are properly cold, snap the two together. The airy Simba Renew™ filling means you get the warmth without a heavy feel.

A few situations where it's worth bending those rules:

  • If you sleep warm all year, you may be happy with the 7 tog right through winter, keeping the 3.5 tog for summer.
  • If you feel the cold, you might move to the full 10.5 tog earlier in autumn and keep it on later into spring.
  • If your bedroom is in a loft or a newer, well-insulated home, you may find you need one step lighter than the season suggests.
  • If the two of you like different temperatures, the 7 tog is a good middle ground, and the person who feels the cold can add a throw on their side.

Sizes And Fit

The 3-in-1 comes in four sizes:

Size

Dimensions

 Single

 135 x 200cm

 Double

 200 x 200cm

 King

 225 x 220cm

 Super King

 260 x 220cm

These are standard UK duvet sizes, so your existing covers will fit. When both duvets are joined, they go inside one cover just as a single duvet would.

How to Make the Method Looking After It Stick

Both duvets are machine washable at 40°C, and you can tumble dry them on a low heat. It's best to avoid ironing, bleach and dry cleaning. Because the two halves come apart, you can wash them one at a time, and the square-stitched design helps them dry quickly and evenly.

When one duvet is out of season, keep it in the storage bag somewhere dry. An Ottoman bed is a handy place for it if you have one.

How It Compares With Our Other Duvets

We make three duvets, and they're designed for slightly different needs. The Hybrid™ Duvet is a single 10.5 tog all-rounder. The Summer Hybrid™ Duvet is a lighter 4.5 tog for warm months and for anyone who runs hot. The 3-in-1 is the one to choose if you'd like to change your warmth level through the year without buying and storing several separate duvets. You can compare all three of our duvets side by side, including fillings, warmth levels and sustainability notes.

FAQs

Yes. They're two complete duvets, so you could use the 7 tog on your own bed and the 3.5 tog in a guest room during the warmer months, then bring them back together for winter.

The duvet is filled with Simba Renew™, made from recycled bottle fibres, along with plant-derived Modal, and it has a cotton cover. There's no feather or down inside, and being able to wash it at 40°C is helpful for keeping it fresh.

Our duvets come with a 30-night trial and a 1-year guarantee, with free delivery and returns. That gives you a month of real nights at home to decide whether the warmth and feel are right for you.

Order before 1pm and we'll deliver the next working day to most UK postcodes, free of charge. Both duvets arrive together in one reusable storage bag, which is handy for keeping the spare one in later.

Each duvet has Stratos® on one side and a cotton and Modal blend on the other. There's a label at the foot end, so you'll always know which way round it goes.

Yes, when it's in stock. Refurbished duvets are cleaned, inspected and sanitised by our expert third-party team before they receive the Simba-certified seal of approval. Our standard Hybrid™ Duvet is available refurbished as well.
