Hybrid vs Memory Foam Mattresses: What's the Difference?
A memory foam mattress is built from foam all the way through. A hybrid combines a foam comfort layer with a second support system underneath, which in our mattresses means Simbatex® foam over layers of titanium Aerocoil® springs. One thing worth being clear about from the start: Simbatex® is not memory foam. It's our own open-cell foam, developed to give the cushioning comfort that draws people to memory foam without the heat that comes with it. The two constructions feel different, handle heat differently and age differently, and the differences are big enough to matter across ten years of nights. How Each One Is Built
Memory foam mattresses stack foams of different densities, with a firm base for structure and viscoelastic layers on top. The material responds to heat and pressure, softening where your body presses into it and moulding around your shape. When you move, it returns to its original form slowly. That slow response is the defining characteristic of the material, and it's where the famous sinking-in feel comes from.
A hybrid keeps a comfort layer at the surface and puts something more responsive underneath. How They Feel to Sleep On

How They Compare On Temperature
This is the biggest practical difference between the two, and usually the first one people notice.
Memory foam is dense, and dense materials trap heat. Your body gives off warmth all night, and in an all-foam mattress much of it stays in the material around you, which is why running hot is the most common complaint from memory foam owners. Gel infusions and cut channels reduce the effect without removing it, because the underlying structure is still a solid block.
A hybrid has air running through its core. The space between the springs ventilates continuously, and every movement pushes warm air out and draws cooler air in.
