A super king size fitted sheet measures 180cm x 200cm, making it the perfect size for a UK super king size or EU queen size mattress.
A soft super king size fitted sheet is perfect for anywhere you use a super king size bed. Although it's also a good idea to use a mattress protector, which will have a waterproof layer to prevent spills and accidents from ruining your mattress, a super king size fitted sheet also provides a layer of smooth softness and can co-ordinate with the bedsheets.
There are two types of bed sheet that are used as the base layer of your bedding. The old-school type is the flat sheet, which is now used mostly for sleeping under (if you're not the duvet type). A super king size fitted sheet has corners sewn in and an elasticated edge. This is to secure it safely around the mattress so it doesn't buckle or shift during the night, causing uncomfortable lumps. Super king size beds are a top choice for real comfort-lovers, offering bags of room for even the most committed wriggler! As such, you'll want your fitted sheet to be a snug fit to esnure it doesn't ping away at the corners - so getting one that's made to stretch comfortably is a good idea.
You'll want your super king size fitted sheet to be breathable, durable and fit your mattress properly. So it's good to look for fabrics such as cotton, which is naturally breathable and hypoallergenic, with a soft weave or finish. You'll also want some stretch from something like elastane, which means that no matter how thick your mattress is you can be sure the corners won't untuck themselves. You can also look for extra fabric treatments that add a touch of luxury. Everyone loves fresh, crisp bedsheets, so looking for quality threads and a weave that suits the purpose is far more important than thread count.
If you're looking for thread count as a sign of quality in a sheet, you might be looking at the wrong thing. Although often used my manufacturers to suggest higher = better, in fact thread count is only one factor in sheet quality and you'd do better looking at things like yarn quality and finish to really get an idea of whether a sheet is right for you. What thread count actually means is the number of threads in each square inch of fabric, counted in both top to bottom and side to side directions (aka warp and weft). In the past some manufacturers have even sneakily defined the threads as the number twisted together to form a single piece of yarn - known as the ply - to make the numbers seem more impressive. This doesn't take into account the length of the cotton fibre (aka the staple) either - that's the thing that gives Egyptian and PIma cottons their reputation. But no matter what the thread count or cotton type, the construction and weave and the finishing proceses carried out on the final product will really make the difference to your day-to-day. Essentially, you'll know a quality super king size fitted sheet when you feel it.
