A standard UK king-size mattress protector measures 150cm (W) x 200cm (L). One important detail that you need to pay attention to is whether the king-size bed protector you like can comfortably accommodate the depth of your mattress. Our king mattress protectors, for example, are suitable for mattresses with a depth of up to 40cm, while others might only be designed for mattresses with a maximum depth of 30cm.
Which type of mattress protector is best?
When it comes to mattress protectors, the term “best” is quite subjective, as it depends on your individual needs. If you’re on a budget and are looking for maximum protection against spills and stains, our TripleShield Bamboo Mattress Protector would be a great choice.
If you’re looking for the same level of protection but would also like your mattress protector to keep you cool at night, the TripleShield Tencel Cool Mattress Protector would be the more suitable option.
What is the difference between a mattress protector and a mattress cover?
Mattress protectors are designed to provide a barrier (often waterproof) against stains and spills. A mattress cover, on the other hand, is just that - a cover that goes over your mattress. It is generally thinner and more focused on comfort, cleanliness, and basic protection.
Should your mattress protector be your bed size or one size bigger?
Your mattress protector should be the same size as your mattress. So, if you have a king-size mattress, you need to buy a king-size mattress protector. One important detail to check when buying a mattress protector is the maximum mattress depth that it can accommodate.
This is important as some protectors might only fit king-size mattresses with a maximum depth of 30cm, while others are designed to fit on mattresses with a depth of up to 40cm.
How often should you replace a mattress protector?
While most mattress protectors are durable and can last a long time, from a hygienic standpoint, it’s a good idea to replace your mattress protector every one to two years. If the bed doesn’t get used every night (if it only gets used by guests, for example), then you can replace the mattress protector less frequently.
Can you machine wash a king-size mattress protector?
While we can’t speak for any other products, all Simba king-size mattress protectors can be washed in a washing machine. Please always refer to the product care instructions of the specific mattress protector that you have, because not all of our mattress protectors are made the same.
